  1. Jack and Jill Says:

I believe this was one of the last sets of TMI Tuesday questions that were posted before we resumed blogging after a long hiatus. We would love to answer them, and in fact if TMI Tuesday ever skips a week this is probably the set we’ll choose to answer. We love movies.

Great answers! We’re glad you chose an alternate week’s TMI Tuesday rather than sitting the week out!

  2. Hedone Says:

    1. Why do you go to the movies?

To escape, it’s a few hours escape from reality. Your brain is focused on nothing but the movie.

    2. In the last six months, have you viewed more movies at home or at the movie theatre?

At home. I rarely go to the theatre. Boyfriend has been dragging me out to the movies. I like watching at home better because I can push pause and do other things: go to bathroom, get a cup of tea or if the movie is too long I can break it down to shorter viewing times.

    3. What was the last movie you watched at home? At the theatre?

Last weekend we rented The Amateurs and Priceless. The Amateurs is a hoot! It stars Jeff Bridges and is about a town of misfits that need to make money so they decide to make a porno. Do rent it; it is VERY enjoyable. The second film was a french film with Audrey Tautou. I’ve been a fan of hers since the Amélie movies. This is a cute romantic romp as well. It is subtitled so if that bothers you, don’t rent. Otherwise I highly recommend Priceless too.

At the theatre we saw Bad Teacher and before that Bridesmaids. Bad Teacher was just okay. I like Cameron Diaz and a friend told me that it was good. I shouldn’t have listened to him. It was mediocre. Bridesmaids however was very funny. All the actors were enjoyable. It did have some sophomoric humor that I could have done without (pooping in the street in a wedding dress) but the entire movie was not like this. I recommend seeing it or renting it when you can.

    4. Which do you enjoy most in a movie?
    a. Two beings battling to death such as Godzilla and Mothra (or any foe), Gladiator
    b. Car chase scene such as Ronin, Fast & the Furious
    c. Major heist such as Italian Job, Ocean’s Eleven, Snatch
    d. Epic battle scene such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers

I hate hate hate long drawn out battles. That is why I never liked those monster movies. Car chase scenes tend to be boring. There are some good ones though. Most directors let them go on for way too long. A good heist can be intriguing depends on the scheme, choreography, layout and such. I must say I have enjoyed some of the epic battles even if the movie is a snore. They are monumental and immense and I get caught up in them…the energy of it all as well as the cinematography.

    6. Which of these is your favorite Hollywood movie plot?

Boy meets girl and then Fish out of Water.

    7. What is your favorite movie genre? (Thriller, comedy, action/adventure, drama, mystery, fright, etc.)

Mysteries are #1, smart Thrillers, drama, some comedy but not sophomoric humor (no Adam Sandler).

    8. In movies, what makes you cry?
    a. mistreatment of a prime, likeable character

I don’t cry often but when I do it is usually due to “A”. Depending on the story line an animal dying will usually give me the sniffles.

Bonus: What is your favorite movie? Why?

I don’t have one. I often say “Life Is Beautiful” is a favorite because it affected me deeply. Truth is I love many movies…pretty much anything with Katherine Hepburn, I love 1940s/50s/60s musicals. I love the glamour, language, and style of Hollywood 1940s and ’50s film.
